What is an aftershave used for?

Why use an aftershave lotion?

There are many reasons to use a good aftershave:

Hydration: when you shave, the razor and its blade not only cut the hair, they also remove the lipidic film from the skin. This is a very thin layer of fat naturally produced by the skin, and is the first layer of the epidermis. This film serves to protect your skin from external aggressions, but above all to keep your skin well hydrated. Therefore, between the soap which by nature dries the skin and the blade which removes some of this film, it is necessary to rehydrate the skin. A good aftershave therefore includes ingredients for this purpose.

Disinfection: shaving can sometimes leave small dots of blood, so it’s best to disinfect them, and alcohol is ideal for this.

Soothing: shaving is a kind of minimal aggression of the skin, it pulls a little and sometimes cuts or leaves some redness. A good aftershave therefore contains care ingredients: alcohol puts the ideas back in place, glycerin and essential oils heal and repair.

The class: a good aftershave smells good thanks to the perfume it contains, and you can still smell it a few hours after use. Darwin perfume is composed only of natural essential oils.

How to apply your aftershave?

Before applying the after-shave lotion, make sure that you have carried out these steps correctly: once shaving is finished, rinse off the excess foam, possibly pass an alum stone over the blood spots, place a barber’s towel soaked in cold water on the face to close the pores, dry the face with a clean towel. Pour a few drops of aftershave into the palm of the hand, rub hands together lightly and apply to shaved areas, massaging lightly. The aftershave is quickly absorbed, and you’re all neat and lightly scented, ready to start the day on the right foot.
