Antique safety razor, made in France for / by Famex, all parts are original. The nickel-plated zamac top cap is slightly pitted and a little warped on top (due to the handle being tightened too much over the years). The cage-shaped guard is made of nickel-plated brass and is in fair condition. The brass handle is in very good condition, very shiny, not plated (or not anymore).
The razor weighs 54 g and measures 8.1 cm.
N.B. : Be careful not to tighten the screw too much, to avoid damaging the thread. The cap can be damaged if tightened too much.
A bit of history : the cage is not only designed to offer a different and innovative comb design. The material is slightly flexible, making the razor adjustable: by tightening the screw, the cage presses against the cap and changes the geometry of the head as it is tightened. Unfortunately, the manufacturer used zamac for the cap, and over the years, the caps became deformed and the screws came loose. It is very rare to find an original cap today, whereas cages alone are still available. This is why you should not tighten the screw too much.
The photos show the correct way to fit the cage (yes, there is a correct way! The Famex brand name (or here, just Breveté SGCG) should be visible when the razor is screwed back together).
