This vintage shaving brush is made from a horn tip, which has been preserved in its natural shape. The surprising handle gives it a good, brush-like grip.
Made from real badger hair, pure or best badger grade, I don’t think it has been used much as it is quite clean. However, it has lost a few hairs and is likely to lose others, so I can’t guarantee that it will be able to be used again straight away.
There are two minor defects: a trace of glue at the base of the knot, and a slight crack in the thin part of the handle near the base.
I think it was made in France, very probably in Thiers. The base of the tuft follows the shape of the horn and is therefore not perfectly round, ranging from 20 to 23 mm.
– Knot: 45 x 20/23 mm
