This vintage straight razor is old and shows a few signs of its age, which won’t get in the way when you shave.
The restoration has been minimal, to leave a trace of the razor’s life and not to erase the beautiful engraving.
This razor is a very interesting piece of shaving history ! This razor was made in France by Yrras, a little-known brand whose manufacturing quality is obvious. It was manuactured in Thiers by A.Sarry, probably in the 1950s (the brand Yrras dates from 1948, and is quite rare). The brand Yrras is both the inverted name of Sarry, and a play on words. Indeed in french Yrras could be heard as a contraption of “il rase”, which means “it shaves”. It is common in french speaking to suppress the L sound from “il”.
Approximately 13/16th size, original ivory-coloured plastic scales, with hot-stamped logo. The scales are moulded as they are, without a spacer.
The razor has been sharpened and honed by a qualified professional. Depending on your preference, it may need to be stropped a bit more to soften it.
Original hardback case included.
